Sonya Vazquez graduated with a B.S. from the University of Central Oklahoma in 1987, Magna cum laude. She took the CPA exam February 1988 and passed on the first try, at that time, the national average to pass on the first try was 7%. She opened her own firm in Oklahoma City in 1987 but subsequently sold it in 1989 and moved to Washington, DC. In DC, She worked for a large regional firm doing audits of labor unions, pension funds, and not for profit organizations.
Sonya Vazquez's firm, Vazquez CPA & Company. was established in Port Orchard/Seattle in 1996 and has focused on small businesses exclusively. Sonya has worked with software companies and has helped arrange attractive financing packages for them. She's helped clients analyze potential business ventures, and the clients who decided to buy have done well for themselves. Sonya has gotten a few clients out of trouble with various state agencies as well as the IRS, and has negotiated settlements and offers in compromise. Many of her clients call her their "financial shrink" as she strives to take the time to listen to their needs and problems and helps them find a suitable solution.
